How to Configure all FreeNAS BitTorrent parameters

If you want configure FreeNAS torrent daemon you have to access with an ssh session, so enable Secure Shell and Permi root login:

freenas enable ssh

Now open your favourite ssh console software, I use Putty:

freenas connect ssh

Connect and login as root and password you WebGUI admin password:

freenas ssh login

Locate config file in /home/transmission/.config/transmission-daemon/:

freenas ssh cd

and edit settings.json, I prefer to use Nano:

freenas ssh torrent config

Save and restart daemon or restart FreeNAS.

This tells me ABSOLUTELY nothing! No explanation why I need to enable SSH? nothing to do with Torrent setup for freenas!

In order to change Transmission configuration you have to edit a file, to edit a file you have to access FreeNAS server, SSH is a fast way to do this.
For example, if you have a great number of torrent active it’s better to increase “open-file-limit” parameter.

    Hello

    Thank you for your tutorial.
But: In the settings, you only set a download directory.
–>Does now the client look what is in this directory to share it or only put new stuff (if you download something) there?

I like to set up a torrentserver to distribute Linux and Freeware (and not for downloading)

    Thank you for your help
    Kind Regards

It appears that if you update this, and then restart the daemon (/etc/rc.d/transmission restart) it overrides this file.

    Any thoughts?
